Challenge

Valvoline Inc. needed to bring together a fragmented identity environment to support fast, secure service for customers while protecting employees and franchisees.

Results

Valvoline Inc., iC Consult, and Ping Identity formed the unified iDrive team, began moving toward a SaaS-based platform, and are planning to bring approximately 25,000 identities onto Ping.

Objective

Valvoline Inc., the company behind Valvoline Instant Oil Change, partnered with iC Consult and Ping Identity to transform identity across workforce and customer experiences.

The goal was to give technicians secure, reliable access to serve customers quickly while protecting customers, employees, and franchisees. Valvoline also sought to consolidate identity capabilities, enable real-time decisions, and build a secure foundation for growth.

Challenge

Valvoline Inc. had multiple identity products that were not integrated into a comprehensive environment. The resulting systems were disjointed, making identity difficult to manage consistently and limiting the company’s ability to grow.

Identity context also changes. A person may be an employee in one moment and a customer in the next. Treating these as separate identities can make it harder to determine the right access at a given moment.

No longer can we have the employee and the customer be two separate identities. It is truly one identity. That’s where a product like Ping really is going to help elevate us to the next level from an identity perspective.

Solution

Valvoline needed a unified approach to simplify its environment, strengthen security, and support consistent customer and technician experiences. Valvoline Inc., iC Consult, and Ping Identity aligned on shared goals and created the iDrive team. Together, they began moving Valvoline toward a SaaS-based identity platform, consolidating vendors, and building a secure identity foundation for the future.

The iDrive team brings together Valvoline’s business and operational knowledge, iC Consult’s advisory, implementation, and managed services expertise, and Ping’s identity and security capabilities.

Valvoline Inc. plans to bring approximately 25,000 identities onto the platform.

Results

The team built a more unified and scalable identity environment that supports both workforce and customer experiences. The program is helping Valvoline Inc.:

  • Bring identity, protection, verification, and governance together on a single platform while supporting consistent, secure experiences for customers and technicians.

  • Make more intelligent identity and access decisions using real-time context.

  • Move faster, test faster, and build with greater confidence while establishing employee trust as a foundation for deeper customer trust as the business grows and expands.
