I work for Scotts Miracle-Gro.
We use PingFederate to enable about 7,500 users to seamlessly access about 50 applications.
The biggest challenge I think that we face is overall security for users to not have to have several different passwords to login to different applications.
It makes it so much nicer and smoother for the user.
And it makes us more comfortable with the amount of security that it offers us.
So, Ping enables our users to have a seamless experience with their applications while maintaining a high level of security.
That's extremely important to us, is to save the users' time so that they're able to do their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible.
Primarily, what we use is just for the single sign on for all of our applications, any applications that come into our environment.
I set it up with the PingFederate SSO so that it's federated, it's secure, and any user, even if it's just one person using that, it's just easier for them to get into that application.
The things that stand out the best about the Ping platform are the customer support.
I actually came into this job with no experience working with any type of federated SSO or anything like that.
My boss, at the time, now says that I know more than he does.
I'm looking forward to a nice, lengthy partnership with Ping.
I have many vendors that I work with for different applications, and Ping is, hands down, my favorite just because you experience all the new technology that is coming out.

The Objective
The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is the world's largest marketer of branded consumer lawn and garden products. Headquartered in Marysville, Ohio, the company is an industry leader in the lawn and garden market, with regional offices and research facilities across the United States and businesses in Canada, Europe, and the Asia Pacific.
As the company broadened user access to more applications and data, it was imperative that they were securing the digital enterprise without compromising the agility of the business. Scotts required an identity platform that would enable their employees to seamlessly sign on to their dozens of SaaS applications, most of which used SAML 2.0.
The Challenge
The organization was relying on outdated and ineffective authentication and access controls for the important applications that employees needed to use. Internal users were clicking on external links via a shared web page in order to access critical applications—and Scotts knew they couldn’t rely on this solution for long.
The Solution
Scotts Miracle-Gro selected PingFederate because of its extensibility and industry-leading, modern standards support. Ping Identity acts as the organization's authentication authority, performing user identification in a secure, controlled, and centralized manner. One-click single sign-on (SSO) enables approximately 7,500 employees to log in to the 50 SaaS, mobile, cloud, and enterprise applications they need, including Google Apps, SAP, insurance sites, and more, using a single set of credentials.
We work with several vendors, and Ping is hands down my favorite. The technology just works, and the support and partnership that we have with the team is unparalleled.
