Objective

As a world leader in music and audio software and hardware, Steinberg aimed to put the customer at the center of its digital strategy. The objective was to replace an aging homegrown system with a comprehensive identity solution that could provide a coherent picture of the customer journey and enable more accessible, streamlined processes.

Challenge

Steinberg’s previous identity solution struggled to keep pace with a rapidly expanding user base and the complexities of modern digital delivery. The company needed to manage identities for over three million users across a variety of platforms and services. Without a unified system, it was difficult to track how customers interacted with their products, leading to fragmented service and a lack of personalized engagement.

Solution

Steinberg deployed the Ping Identity (formerly ForgeRock) platform to unify its customer data. This centralized identity management system provides Single Sign-On (SSO) across all Steinberg touchpoints, including seven service portals and dozens of software installation steps. By using open standards like OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, Steinberg created a secure and scalable environment that allows for seamless data sharing and strong authentication.

Results

The transition to a unified platform has transformed Steinberg's customer service capabilities. The company now enjoys a 360-degree view of its customers, allowing for the delivery of tailored content and services. The system is built for the future, with the capacity to support a 10-fold increase in services and devices. Processes that were once complex and siloed have been streamlined, making Steinberg’s innovative tools more accessible to the Grammy and Oscar award-winning creators who rely on them.
