We have a 172-year-old heritage.
We create educational content and increasingly becoming a digital business, and we serve Students both in the K-12 schools, into higher education, So universities, and then into professional life.
And the intention is to create a highly personalised set of learning outcomes for those People to improve educational outcomes, but also their prospects of employment as well.
Really the challenge is around complexity.
Pearson grew through acquisition over many years and as we acquired companies, We absorbed all of their existing ways of working, their processes.
And their technology into the core of PSM.
We're implementing a single ForgeRock identity management system at the core of our business which will actually create a single learner and customer and employee data set.
Moving to a single identity allows us to create that unique profile, and it's with that profile That we can then append personal information about the individual around their learning type, around their history with Pearson, and we can see and track how a learner is engaging with us Over time and effectively start to improve the services and the content that we deliver to That learner, and we take privacy very seriously because, obviously, we're dealing with students and children's data, so that's something that we put very high on our agenda in terms of Importance.
Um, and the way we use data is to improve The educational experience, and so we talk about efficacy, Which is how do we improve the quality of learning outcomes.
And so, for us, the use of that data is how do we continually improve the learning process?
How do we enrich the content in a personalised way to direct that at that individual student?
So that student learns faster, learns at a higher quality and.
Ultimately passes exams, achieves employment in a much more streamlined way.
So the digital journey of us I see is in a very similar context.
I know one minute you might be on your PC or your MacBook Air, Next minute you may be on a bus on your phone.
The whole process should work seamlessly.
Right, your single identity should follow you.
You know the content should follow you, the content experience should be tailored to the Device you’re on.
And our whole content creation ecosystem needs To automate the sort of creation of those experiences.
Our view going forward is to have that single identity linked to a sort of personalised Customer journey that allows us to then you know have a very intimate relationship with our Customers and our learners going forward.
