According to Gartner, 90% of new and refreshed user authentication deployments for small and midsized organizations will be delivered via the cloud by 2019, up from less than 50% today.(3)
Cloud authentication is an emerging architecture for many MFA use cases. You can access identification as a service (IDaaS) through the cloud and use it to authenticate users to cloud-based applications. And you can do so on a subscription basis, avoiding the time, hassle and expense of hosting and managing MFA services.
The diagram below shows how you can use an IDaaS solution to authenticate employees signing on to both private on-premises applications and to your hosted SaaS applications, like Salesforce.com. And if you’d like your business partners to access your private or cloud-based resources, you can give them secure access by pointing them to the public IDaaS solution.
