Ping Identity Raises the Bar for Customer IAM

Delivers Most Comprehensive Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) Platform on the Market for Engaging, Personalized and Secure Customer Experiences

Denver — November 2, 2016

Ping Identity®, the leader in Identity Defined Security, today announced the availability of the industry’s most comprehensive customer identity and access management platform, which now includes a leading identity and profile directory as well as data sync and governance capabilities added to the Ping Identity Platform. The platform extension results from Ping’s acquisition of UnboundID in August 2016, and affirms Ping’s commitment to delivering a complete CIAM solution for enterprise customers as the cornerstone of digital business initiatives that drive increased revenue, customer engagement and loyalty.

According to Forrester, “Security and risk pros often struggle to find the right balance between a seamless customer experience and good security. The unique requirements of customer identity, especially scale, performance, usability, and support for seamless multichannel interactions, have necessitated the development of CIAM as its own market segment with competitive offerings distinct from traditional solutions for employee IAM.”1

CIAM accelerates digital transformation initiatives for today’s modern enterprise by improving customer engagement, securely managing identities, and collecting preference and profile data to drive personalized interactions. With this new release, businesses will benefit from a wide range of capabilities spanning context-aware customer authentication, access management, high performance directory services, and unified customer profiles for multi-channel customer engagement.

“Customer identity and access management has a different set of challenges than the more traditional IAM market which was built for employee access management,” said Andre Durand, CEO and founder, Ping Identity. “Ping acquired UnboundID primarily due to its unparallelled expertise in CIAM and cloud directories, and thanks to the longstanding partnership between the companies, we were able to quickly integrate the best of UnboundID into the Ping Identity Platform to give enterprises the most robust CIAM solution on the market.”

Analysts such as Gartner and Forrester agree that CIAM requirements have significantly expanded to meet the growing needs of today’s digital business initiatives. Enterprises are looking for flexible, adaptable identity services that can be leveraged across their customer-facing initiatives while delivering the security, scale, and performance needed for digital business success.

The Ping Identity Platform greatly simplifies the complexity of identity-centric customer engagement into one solution. With more than 3 billion identities under management, Ping Identity is proven to scale with large enterprises and offers versatility for different enterprise needs with its broad API and protocol support, commitment to open standards, and support for both on-premise and cloud solutions. Ping also ensures regulatory compliance for a global customer base, including customer data privacy management and data access governance.

“Enterprises need a holistic solution for customer identity management so they can rapidly deploy their digital initiatives with the peace of mind that they are securing their customer’s data,” said Steve Shoaff, Chief Product Officer, Ping Identity. “Our newly combined capabilities capture and leverage customer profiles and preferences for personalization and engagement, while providing the right balance of security and convenience.”

Ping Identity Platform: Best CIAM Solution on the Market
New CIAM products added to the Ping Identity Platform include:

  • PingDirectory securely stores and manages customer identities and unified customer profiles that are crucial to driving multi-channel engagement and improved customer experience. Designed to store rich profile data, PingDirectory supports structured and unstructured data, modern protocols and standards, includes developer-friendly REST APIs, and dramatically lowers Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) relative to legacy directory server products.
  • PingDataSync keeps identity and profile data synchronized across diverse data sources, both on-premise and in the cloud, to ensure identity data and customer profiles are up to date in real-time for consistent multi-channel engagement. The product is used to migrate identity data off costly legacy directory server products so they can be retired, and also to sync production identity data to testing and staging environments while protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and passwords.
  • PingDataGovernance provides convenience to customers and enhances loyalty and trust by giving them the freedom to self-manage their profiles, preferences and privacy choices. PingDataGovernance manages and governs access to sensitive customer data for apps, employees and partners with centralized policy controls and secure REST APIs, as well as features for delegated account administration.

These new products enhance the existing Ping Identity Platform which includes single sign-on, multi factor authentication and secure access as an end-to-end solution, enabling employees, customers and partners to access cloud, mobile and enterprise applications.
