PayPal, Samsung and Intel to Discuss Securing the Mobile Ecosystem

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — July 2, 2013

San Francisco, CA — July 2, 2013 — Next week’s Cloud Identity Summit 2013 will feature a three-part session focusing on how to leverage security and identity in today’s mobile world, with insight from PayPal, Samsung and Intel.

“Mobile devices are a dominant technology in our world today, providing both opportunities and challenges - one opportunity being new and more secure authentication models, and a key challenge being the need to secure work information and keep it separate from personal activities,” said Paul Madsen, senior technical architect, Ping Identity. “Discussing these emerging security issues with companies that are also working towards a standards-based solution will help the industry to push forward and secure the mobile ecosystem.”

Topics to be covered in the three-part session include an overview of the FIDO Alliance and its goal of a standards-based mobile ecosystem, the demand for robust mobile enterprise capabilities and the paradigm shift back to user-centric identities needed in the remote world.

The session will include the following presentations:

Part 1: Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Enables Better Authentication for the Open Mobile Ecosystem
Brett McDowell, Senior Manager, Ecosystem Security, PayPal
The mobile ecosystem needs simple and strong authentication capabilities that provide better user experiences—and better security—than today's passwords, PINs or OTPs. The FIDO Alliance members are working together to develop an open, interoperable, standards-based ecosystem that will enable seamless integration of online services with any certified authentication solution (such as biometrics on mobile devices). Find out what use cases FIDO addresses and how organizations can be an early beneficiary of this game-changing initiative.

Part 2: Samsung’s Perspective on Mobile Identity
Sudhi Herle, VP of Enterprise Products, Samsung Telecommunications America
Samsung will discuss how the mobile ecosystem maturity is demanding more robust enterprise capabilities – especially integration of the mobile apps with existing enterprise notions of identity, authentication and authorization. Samsung will demonstrate how it is tackling this issue in its Knox platform – by using Centrify powered technologies. Learn how this will help enterprise IT admin seamlessly add mobiles into their existing MS Active Directory, extend the reach of their enterprise apps to integrate with AD and how Samsung Knox Dual Persona is a good strategy for enterprise IT integration.

Part 3: Bringing the User Back into User-Centric Identity
Conor Cahill, Principal Engineer, Intel
New platform security and sensing capabilities are enabling a paradigm shift in how users are authenticated and how their identities are asserted to local and remote services, while improving both usability and security. In this session, Intel will show how these advanced technologies can be used to create seamless—and secure—user experiences as they access all of their local applications and remote services.

The “Mobile Security: Leveraging the New Platform” presentations will take place Thursday, July 11th at the Cloud Identity Summit 2013 hosted by Ping Identity®, at the Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa, California.
