These Innovators are Proof of What’s Possible in Identity Security
Each year, I look forward to reviewing the nominations for the Identity Excellence Awards. It’s a privilege to get a behind-the-curtains look at the many ways our customers and partners continue to raise the bar on identity security excellence.
There’s just one downside: that we can’t give everyone an award for their efforts. Trust me when I say it was no easy feat to choose the winners from among many worthy nominations. But after many hours of review and deliberation, our judging committee narrowed the field to identify the top entries across eight different categories.
The worthy award recipients were celebrated at our annual user conference, IDENTIFY 2020. Like many events this year, IDENTIFY was held virtually, but that didn’t stop us from rolling out the digital red carpet for these deserving companies. It’s my great honor to announce this year’s Identity Excellence Awards winners as follows.
The CEO’s Choice award recognizes those who don’t fit neatly into another category, but are challenging the industry by pushing our products to new levels and being amazing business partners.
With the help of ProofID, Ticketmaster received the CEO’s Choice award for modernizing their homegrown customer authentication and authorization environment. Ticketmaster has distinct requirements for volume, scalability, security and customer experience. They’ve met these and more by simplifying and standardizing on a solution built upon industry best practices and open standard protocols.
The Identity Innovation Champion award recognizes the team that’s fearlessly pushing the limits of identity and blazing the trail by adopting new technologies.
Earning the top spot in this category, WaFd Bank, previously known as Washington Federal Bank, was acknowledged for the huge strides they’ve made in transitioning WaFd to a digital-first enterprise. With the assistance of HiQuest Group, the bank is migrating to an all-cloud CIAM solution and improved customer experience by providing frictionless authentication. They’re also anticipating significant cost savings by minimizing implementation time, reduced call volumes and ongoing maintenance requirements.
An Identity Security Champion is shaping the industry by using new and novel approaches to secure their enterprise.
DB Schenker, a key logistics partner to many large organizations, was recognized with the top award in this category for centralizing access and authentication to applications for more than 300,000 identities. Supported by iC Consult, the company was able to rapidly support work from home orders and has reduced integration time by 75%. With the Ping platform in place, they’re also progressing toward passwordless authentication.
The Customer Experience Champion award distinguishes the enterprise that puts customers first by delivering secure and seamless experiences that exceed expectations.
Winner Tesco Bank was recognized for modernizing their legacy web and mobile security environment. Working with ProofID, they consolidated customer identities to deliver a unified customer experience, including enabling multiple authentication methods and single sign-on (SSO) to web applications. The UK-based retail bank has also achieved PSD2 compliance and implemented continuous risk-based strong authentication, strengthening its security posture.
The Cloud Identity Champion award recognizes the enterprise that’s achieved exceptional gains in cloud adoption and migration.
Capital One earned their top spot for adopting an all-cloud architecture. The financial services giant has improved the SSO experience, increased reliability and speed, and freed up their team to work on advanced projects. They’ve also achieved an impressive 99.99% service availability over a one-year horizon.
A Modern Identity Champion is modernizing legacy IAM systems by connecting powerful new identity capabilities to existing investments.
Freddie Mac, the secondary mortgage market giant, earned the highest award for successfully replacing their legacy WAM system and consolidating multiple directories behind the Ping platform. The massive undertaking supported by LikeMinds Consulting and Sailpoint, included migrating hundreds of applications to deliver an enhanced user experience.
The Champion of Change award recognizes enterprises that are using identity to keep people safe, keep business going and steer us all in a new direction.
The Province of New Brunswick was awarded the top recognition for accelerating their digital identity strategy in light of COVID-19. One of four Atlantic provinces in eastern Canada, New Brunswick wanted to provide citizens with online access to COVID-19 test results. With the help of Simeio Solutions, they successfully deployed the MyHealthNB web portal in just 18 days using Ping solutions. The portal enables user registration, validation, identity verification and secure services in both French and English so citizens can access test results quickly and securely from the privacy of their own homes.
The Better Identity Together award recognizes the customer and partner who are working together in unique and meaningful ways to advance identity security.
CSL Behring, a leading global biotech manufacturer, and their integration partner, Identropy, took the top award for successfully replacing their previous single sign-on WAM system. Encompassing 120 federations, the ambitious project included replacing the legacy SSO platform serving 47,000 workforce users and adding robust multi-factor authentication (MFA) capabilities, including radius integrations and multiple device methods. Through their modernization efforts, CSL is able to support complex enterprise and manufacturing use cases both now and into the future.
Congratulations to the winners of these well-deserved accolades, as well as to all of the nominees for their exceptional achievements and unwavering customer focus. On behalf of our judging committee, it was our honor to review this year’s submissions, recognize these exciting and innovative advancements in identity security, and celebrate the teams who brought these projects to life. We can’t wait to see what you’re working on next!
