A new documentary has come out about the "contracts of adhesion" that Web sites require when you sign up. Sites dictate the terms and you can take it or leave it. He instructed them to download a new version of the Tumblr app, and, more alarmingly, to "update your password on Tumblr and anywhere else you may have been using the same password."
