As long as these corporate pranks are scoped to a day or so with a quick reveal, we can have a great laugh together and get on with business.
But when it comes to our IT infrastructure, we're less tolerant of companies that try to fool us with marketing 'fluff,' smooth salesmanship or promises of 'new features coming soon' in product roadmaps.
This is particularly hard to avoid when technology is changing so rapidly (i.e. web, mobile, APIs) and with vendors who claim to 'solve it all.'
The challenge of determining fluff from truth is particularly acute in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) space, which is crowded with incumbents and relatively new entrants. It's up to you to avoid being fooled by accurately determining if your current IAM solution can address the current and next wave of IT trends and challenges. One such challenge is 'usability vulnerabilities', which Forrester Research Analyst and IAM expert Eve Maler discusses in her latest blog about customer authentication.
So, can your IAM provider address all of your challenges?
To help you answer that question, we created a checklist of 17 important questions to ask your IAM provider. [Yes, we expect you to ask us these questions too!] This handy checklist makes a great starter to that technology audit you've been meaning to do or that RFP that you need to write.
Asking the right questions and getting thorough answers is the best way to get past the marketing 'fluff' and avoid being fooled. We hope you make good use of the checklist and please reach out for our answers!
