You want to keep in touch with your customers? There's an app for that. You want to pay bills and manage accounts receivable? There's an app for that. You want to track inventory and plan product orders? Yes, there's an app for that too.
The best apps come from a single provider because they talk to each other and make decisions based on your behavior.
Oracle has built an impressive collection of 80 apps that make up their E-Business Suite, or EBS in tech lingo. The benefit of sourcing your apps from a single vendor is that they integrate with each other and, in theory, improve your workflow. The downside is that much too often using a single vendor adds more work and expenses for the super-heroes of IT because in order to make apps useful to everyone, you have to add more apps.
As the need for connection grows, you're left with 2 choices; throw more money into the suite your employees have grown accustomed to, or build a new collection of programs and apps from scratch that could save money in the long run (but you'll have to wait for the long run to find out). In addition to budget dollars, both options add time, human resources and migraines, forever. Isn't there a simpler solution?
So glad you asked. With a little coding here, and little coding there, our friends at LikeMinds Consulting developed a 3rd and much more attractive option. The solution is simple. Keep the same interface and productive workflow within your beloved and familiar Oracle EBS system, while accommodating your growing user base and need for securely accessing connected apps. LikeMinds took one of our products,Ping Federate and integrated it with Oracle EBS, providing single sign-on (SSO) and identity access management for all. Although this breakthrough discovery is still in the early stage, it was successfully conceptualized at a multi-billion dollar apparel company.
But what does this mean to you, kind reader of the blog? A lot, especially to thoseattending the RSA Conference in San Franciscothis week. Meet the bright minds from LikeMinds and hear more about the less-apps-for-more-apps phenomenon tomorrow, February 26th at 11:30am in our booth, #1439 South Hall. Enjoy other great topics all week like "This is not your Father's IAM" and "Cloud Applications Can Haunt You." Look for the big red and come dork out with us.
If you can't attend RSA because your budget was sucked up by Oracle EBS, then we hope you'll stay in touch so we can invite you to cool events and informative webinars happening in the near future. Promise.
