Ping Identity Teams with Google Enterprise to Deliver Universal Login for SaaS

Denver, Colo. — July 28, 2009 — Ping Identity® announced today it has integrated its PingConnect™ on-demand Single Sign-On service with Google Apps to deliver a universal Software as a Service (SaaS) login that ties together different SaaS environments by managing user access and authentication in the cloud. Users can now login to their Google Apps domain, then directly access their other SaaS applications, such as Salesforce CRM, by simply clicking a link. No further authentication is required, minimizing login failures and password resets.

PingConnect extends the ‘reach’ of Google Apps login credentials to Salesforce, WebEx, Concur, SuccessFactors and more than 60 other SaaS applications. This gives companies who are using Google Apps the option of managing all of their SaaS user accounts via the Google Apps domain – an alternative to site-based corporate directories (Active Directory or LDAP). As a result, users gain a pure cloud-based solution that includes the authentication mechanism and SSO necessary to securely manage user access to applications in the cloud.

“This is a huge step forward for companies implementing SaaS,” said Ping Identity CEO Andre Durand. “Universal SaaS login via Google Apps, allows users to take full advantage of the benefits of SaaS without the constraints that come with managing user passwords across any number of SaaS platforms. The continued development collaboration between Ping Identity and Google has resulted in another critical identity solution for customers.”

Google Enterprise and cloud system integrator Appirio both see strong market demand for this type of solution.

"Successful integrations of multiple SaaS applications in a single environment have been limited in the past,” said Eric Sachs, Google Apps Security Team Product Manager, “With this launch PingConnect is providing an easy way to universally access multiple SaaS applications without requiring costly and complicated new IT tools and support.”

Appirio uses PingConnect within its organization to manage SSO across Salesforce and Google Apps. Appirio is also offering PingConnect along with its products and services to help enterprises accelerate their adoption of cloud applications.

"As the fastest growing partner of Salesforce.com and Google Enterprise, Appirio has helped over 2,500 enterprises accelerate their adoption of the cloud," said Mike Epner, head of Appirio's cloud strategy consulting practice. "Several of our enterprise customers, including Avago and Hamilton Beach, already use Google Apps, and are now looking to move more of their application portfolios to the cloud. By integrating Single Sign-On within Google Apps, PingConnect makes it much easier for enterprises to drive end-user adoption and ensure security across multiple cloud applications."

As a leading SSO provider for Google Enterprise, Ping Identity helps companies address Internet Identity Security concerns for Google Enterprise deployments and is the only vendor to provide standards-based SSO support for Google Apps, Google Search Appliance and Google Security Compliance (Postini).

How it Works The combined offering is based on the OpenID open authentication protocol with Google Apps acting as an OpenID provider and PingConnect acting as an OpenID relying party. Once a user’s identity has reached PingConnect, it can then transfer to any SaaS providers who integrate with PingConnect via Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML).
