Dear Colleague,
It's been an exciting and busy month here at Ping
Identity. We held our third annual Federation Users Group at
Digital ID World with over 90 people attending. Discussion
covered everything from enabling secure Internet single
sign-on (SSO) with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vendors to
federated Web services, federated provisioning and partner
enablement best practices. At the show, we demonstrated
prototypes of a new feature coming out in PingFederate 5.0
that we're referring to as "Dynamic Federation" – the ability
to connect nearly instantaneously with partners with little to
NO pre-configuration. We've also been arming our
customers with the information they need to make better
decisions on the how, when and where of federated identity.
One new white paper, recently released and free to download,
compares and contrasts the timelines and challenges associated
with leveraging a standalone federation server versus open
source toolkits. Lastly, our integration engineering
team has been adding to our already large collection of
turnkey, out-of-the-box integration kits. We're now up to 14,
which make connecting PingFederate to nearly any application
or environment as simple as possible. Recently added was our
SharePoint
Portal Server Integration Kit, but if you've not seen the
full list recently, make sure to check it out here. Federate

| Federation Servers vs. Federation
Toolkits? |
To give
companies who are looking to implement Secure
Internet SSO a better picture of the differences
between implementing a standalone federation server
versus an open source toolkit (e.g., OpenSAML), we
conducted an in-depth qualitative study of
implementation timelines for both and share our findings
in this new white
paper. The paper looks at real, hidden, one-time and
repeat costs while introducing typical implementation
steps, best practices and timelines. The results are
normalized against two federation
scenarios.

paper.

| Attention all SaaS Vendors -- Check This
Out! |
Are your
customers asking for SSO to your services? Are your
prospects making SSO a requirement before becoming a
customer? Do you have an existing homegrown or
proprietary SSO mechanism you're trying to get customers

questions, we need to talk. We've introduced a new
SaaS program, where you can receive access to the #1
standards-based identity federation server on the market
for enabling scalable SAML-based SSO, at an incredible,

| SignOn.com Enhancements Released |
We've added
new features to SignOn.com,
a free OpenID service for
consumers.
About Me This is
one of the most requested users features. The "About"
page allows you to publish, publicly, some of your
profile information to the Web. Consider it the digital
equivalent of your business card. Once logged in to SignOn.com,
you can fill in your information in the "My Profile"
section and click on the image to publish it to a Web page. As an
example, check out http://ashish.signon.com.
Support
for SeatBelt SeatBelt is a Firefox plug-in
by VeriSign that assists you while logging in to OpenID
relying party Web site. For more information or to
download SeatBelt, go here.
SeatBelt
enables:
- One click to get to your IdP.
- Status indicator if you are currently logged in to
your IdP.
- Convenient way to switch OpenID providers.
- OpenID form-fill at the OpenID RP. If you are not
logged in to your IdP, it challenges for
authentication. If you are already have a browser
session with your IdP (e.g., SignOn.com),
it does form-fill at the RP.
Support
for OpenID Provider Authentication Policy Extension
(PAPE) PAPE is an OpenID extension that
allows relying partners to specify an authentication
policy. It allows the IdP to inform the RP what
authentication policy was used. It's similar to the
concept of AuthnContext in SAML.
