Speed Bump or Super Charger?

I often hear of security voiced as a ‘speed bump’ in the context of Cloud computing. Something to be ‘overcome,’ so that we can get on with ‘real business’ in the Cloud.  Is security really a speed bump? Or is now a time to take a more proactive stance on how identity and security can both simplify and accelerate our business?
 
I believe the difference is how we approach it.

So much of our historical attention on security has been reactive. Where erecting walls and defining the demarcation between trusted and untrusted networks is never ending.

I believe the Cloud is forcing us to move outside of our preconceived notions into a new mode of thinking brought about by its sheer scale and inherently distributed nature. Cloud security must be strategic, and it’s making us more proactive – in my opinion, a positive shift for our industry.
