Bridging Educational Silos- Case Study
When EduTech decided to widen the deployment of its DataMentor student and staff development application in the New York State education system, there were some serious challenges. EduTech needed to connect with 11 other Regional Information Centers (RICs) as well as the State. EduTech chose Ping Identity for Internet Single Sign-On (SSO) across 12 RICs.
Through the simple deployment of Internet SSO, EducTech built an “education community” for the State of New York in months, not years. The deployment of PingFederate for standards-based Internet SSO eliminated the political issue surrounding who was in control. Users could start anywhere and go anywhere and the State wasn’t required to centralize their users. Additionally, Internet SSO simplified educational data reporting for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and each regional educational center now has the control they need to satisfy FERPA requirements.
